Perhaps it's time for me to confess that there is a better explanation to my lack of blogging besides just being busy. If we combine my (somewhat sudden) increase in business with relentless, all day nausea, followed by an unwelcome head cold it may explain a bit better why I've refrained from burning up the keyboard. Fortunately, the life altering nausea that I'm suffering from is not the result of a terminal disease (although most days I do feel terminal), but rather the result of what I like to call my own personal parasite. "Somehow," I've managed to turn up pregnant. My new status comes as a bit of a surprise for us. We had factored another child into our life spreadsheet (yes, Brian has created a spreadsheet which maps out our future) but Baby #2 was not scheduled to appear on the spreadsheet until year 2009. Of course we realize that sometimes God's plans are different (and better) than our own and Brian's spreadsheet hasn't imploded, so I think we'll be okay!At this point I'm nine weeks along and looking forward to weeks 13 and 14 as that is when the nausea I suffered while pregnant with Hayley ceased. My due date is April 17th which will make Hayley and the new baby approximately 23 months apart. We've definitely become exicted about the aspect of our two children being closer in age then we had ever anticipated. We think this will be a great opportunity for them to be close friends, and after being an only child I'm anxious to see the relationship that will develop.
Now, if we can just figure out how to break the news to Chloe...

CONGRATULATIONS!!! Please tell Brian we send our hugs!
I love the bun in the oven idea...is that how you told Brian? So cute!
I think you'll really like having two closer in age--we've enjoyed the dynamics of that quite a bit.
And it seems to be especially good when we let go of the reigns with this type of thing and acknowledge, as you have, that we're NOT in control---as much as we like to think we are! God knew this little precious one from the beginning of time, so who are we to think we can decide everything down to their birthday?
You said it best--His plans are far better than ours. Sometimes it's good to have our "spreadsheets", so to speak, readjusted. ;>
And we rejoice with you over this new life that will change yours forever!
(p.s. You're my 4th friend this week who's announced they're pregnant, all due around the same time. When it rains, it pours!)
Wow! That's great news, Shelley. Congratulations!
Congratulations! You've got experience on your side now, the baby part will be a breeze...the toddler part, well, we're tracking on that.
Thanks Steph! Actually we used the bun in the oven to tell our families. Brian got more of a rude awakening at 4am type newsflash (we were both awfully surprised)!!
Um...4 a.m.? Surely you don't wake UP at that time?!?
Unfortunately, when I'm pregnant, 4am it is!
Shelley, that is AWESOME!!! Congratulations. We are so happy for you. They will be such good buddies. How cool. Love the "bun in the oven" idea. You are so creative. I hope you are feeling better real soon!
Hey Shelley! Are you feeling any better this week?
You always post cute videos on your blog--how do you do it? I tried using things like photobucket to host them, but even that took GOBS of time to upload for a video just over a minute long. Any tips?
Hey Steph,
Still nauseous this week, but thanks for asking! :-)
I usually use Photobucket for video, but have used UTube as well. I'm using cable broadband, but it still usually takes about 10 minutes to upload a video clip. Photobucket does seem to take the longest. I usually start it and then do something else for a bit. Blogger also now offers the ability to upload video but I haven't tried theirs yet. I'd love to see some of your videos!!!
