Somebody took our baby...

... and gave us one that may actually be exhibiting some signs of happiness! Just when we were on the brink of pouring ourselves some stiff drinks, Hayley decided it was time to give us a little glimmer of hope. Sunday was a remarkable day for our little grouch! Keep in mind we have really been trying to focus on not missing her "window" of drowsiness when it is time to start getting Hayley back down for a nap. Apparently our efforts are paying off. She had a wonderful night of sleep on Sunday night and into Monday morning. Monday, she again seemed to be content after her naps and didn't fight going down for each nap nearly as much as she has. For the first time EVER, we've been able to calm her down by just holding her and not having to employ the Bissell, the exercise ball, country music, or Mommy pacing the floor.

We started using the sling on Saturday and have just tried to work harder on holding Hayley more each day. We suspect that she maybe a sensitive, high needs baby and not necessarily colicky. Although she wasn't too fond of the sling to begin with, I'm hoping she will get used to it. In the meantime, I'm learning to do everything with one hand.

We had our one month visit to the Pediatrician today and that went well. Hayley is up to 21 inches long and is 8 lbs 10 oz. Our little girl is growing fast and is almost out of her newborn clothes. Hayley did well with the Dr, but still absolutely HATES car rides. She was happy while we put her in the carseat and got her in the car, once the car started moving, Hayley started screaming. I thought it was supposed to work the opposite way? If anyone has any tips for getting her over this, I'm all ears!!

Oh, good! Sounds like she's outgrowing some of her fussiness.

We experienced the same thing with #2: for the first 6-8 weeks I was convinced we had a "difficult" baby on our hands. I could not seem to figure him out, or get him on anything resembling a schedule.

I was very wrong, though. After he adjusted to his life outside the womb, he became the easiest, most content little guy. Now we can't get him to quit smiling! There's hope, I promise!

Same thing with the carseat; she'll probably get used to it as she gets older and has more outings.
